Mit einer Stärke von 0,1 bis 0,2 mm, sind sie sehr zerbrechlich und können mit Laborhandschuhen nur schlecht gegrifffen werden. Deckglaspinzetten erleichtern das Hantieren mit den Deckgläsern durch ihre verbreiterten und flachen Spitzen.
